Cortext platform
At Cortext, our goal is to empower researchers in the social sciences and humanities by promoting advanced qualitative-quantitative mixed methods. Our primary focus is on studies about the dynamics of science, technology and innovation, and about the roles of knowledge and expertise in societies.
We understand the move towards digital humanities and computational methods not as addressing a technological gap for the social sciences, but rather as entailing entirely new assemblages between its disciplines and those of modern statistics and computer sciences. We work to tackle ever more complex research problems and deal with the profusion of new and diverse sources of information without losing sight of the situatedness and reflexivity required of studies of human societies.
Cortext is hosted by the LISIS research unit at Gustave Eiffel University, and was launched by French institutes IFRIS and INRAE, receiving their continued support.
Cortext Manager
Cortext Manager is our current main attraction, a publicly available web service providing data analysis methods curated and developed by our team of researchers and engineers.
You upload a textual corpus in order to analyse its discourse, names, categories, citations, places, dates etc, with methods for science/controversy/issue mapping, distant reading, document clustering, geo-spatial and network visualizations, and more.
You can jump straight to Cortext Manager and create an account, but we strongly suggest taking a look at the Documentation and Tutorials as you start your journey.

: innovations).},

abstract = {The United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) challenge the global community to build a world where no one is left behind. Recognizing that research plays a fundamental part in supporting these goals, attempts have been made to classify research publications according to their relevance in supporting each of the UN's SDGs. In this paper, we outline the methodology that we followed when mapping research articles to SDGs and which is adopted by Times Higher Education in their Social Impact rankings. We also discuss various aspects in which the methodology can be improved and generalized to other types of content apart from research articles. The results presented in this paper are the outcome of the SDG Research Mapping Initiative that was established as a partnership between the University of Southern Denmark, the Aurora European Universities Alliance (represented by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), the University of Auckland, and Elsevier to bring together broad expertise and share best practices on identifying research contributions to UN's Sustainable Development Goals. },

abstract = {Petrochemical wastewater (PWW) is a huge industrial contaminant that generates a wide range of resistive and poisonous organic pollutants that harm animals and plants in natural water bodies when discharged untreated or partially treated. Therefore, it is vital to develop technologies that are simple, efficient, and profitable for the treatment of oily wastewater. Although, much study has been undertaken on the treatment of PWW, there hasn't been any recent work on bibliometrics analysis of global research trends on this issue. A bibliometric analysis will help current and future researchers figure out where the gaps are and how to fill them. The present study's focus is to examine the characteristics and trends of research on oily wastewater treatment with an emphasis on the treatment of PWW. This research was performed on five important aspects, including characterization of research publications; countries' performances and collaborations; an analysis of the best papers with the most citations; keyword analysis (including frequency distribution of the keyword analysis; the transformation of the keyword combination across time; and exploration of changes in rank over time); and journal analysis, according to the 2457 papers in the Science Citation Index Expanded using the Web of Science (WoS) database from 2000 to 2021. For further analysis, the contingency matrix, bump diagram, and inter-temporal network stream were employed.},

abstract = {Algeria ratified the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change which is committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through renewable energy promotion, expanding forest areas and improving water resources. However, the exploration and the exploitation of shale gas are authorized in Algeria. Here, we discuss the socioeconomic factors that have led Algeria to authorize shale gas exploitation regardless of the potential effects of hydraulic fracturing on biodiversity loss and human health under climate change uncertainty context. Data reported show the difficulty to understand the multifaceted aspect of shale gas impacts. Indeed, without a comprehensive environmental assessment (air, soil, water and biodiversity) and human health impacts under climate change context, there is no clear evidence regarding the real costs, on the one hand, and the palpable benefits, on the other, of shale gas exploitation. Scientific data actualization and fully recognizing evidence in the literature are recommended when evaluating the potential adverse effects of unconventional gas on human and animal health, and also when creating hydraulic fracturing legislation. The development of alternative ecofriendly tools and methods to fossil energy sources (e.g., solar photovoltaics, wind, and geothermal energy) has become an emergency to help diversify the economy and safeguard natural resources for future generations.},
