Training sessions in Brazil at USP, CAPES and UFBA

During the first semester of 2026, the Cortext team hosted a number of training sessions in Brazil, in collaboration with academic and governmental institutions:

February 11th — organized by our local colleague Paulo Meirelles, Ale Abdo hosted a session for graduate students from the Computer Science department at IME-USP, who are using Cortext’s methods in Software Engineering research to study discussions in mailing lists of Libre and open-source software projects.

February 12th — Ale Abdo organized and hosted a session open to the academic community of São Paulo, with participation of researchers and students from several institutions who gathered at IME-USP during a full day.

February 20th — an extraordinary session was organized in Brasília (the Federal District) by CAPES — the federal agency of the Ministry of Education in charge of the evaluation and funding of Brazil’s graduate programs, — who invited Ale Abdo to train its civil servants but also academics from the University of Brasília and the Brazilian Institute for Information in Science and Technology (Ibict).

April 27th — Joenio Costa, a member of the Cortext team and graduate student at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), organized with Claudia Gama (IC-UFBA) and Leonardo Nascimento (LABHDUFBA) a session hosted by Lionel Villard with Hajar Laglil for students associated with UFBA’s Digital Humanities Lab (LABHD) and Institute for Computation (IC).

These events take place within a broader framework of collaborations with Brazilian institutions including a large scale refactoring of the code of Cortext methods and academic visits in both directions.

So, até breve!
