National Workshop (ANF) with Istex in Nancy, FR

On the 5th, 6th and 7th of November we co-organized and participated in the ANF Corpus Istex, a National Training Action led by the Istex infrastructure of the French National Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (INIST).

The first afternoon and morning were dedicated to conferences, including one by Dr. Ale Abdo from the Cortext team on the diversity of approaches to “text and data mining”.

The following afternoon and the last morning were hands-on sessions with demonstrations and guided exercises using corpora prepared by the trainers, then free exploration with corpora the learners brought to work with. Participants were split between starter and advanced sessions.

In the advanced hands-on session, tutored by Camille de Salabert (Istex), Hajar Laglil and Ale Abdo (Cortext), participants learned how to move results between Lodex and Cortext, how to use Cortext’s Sashimi suite of methods for domain-topic and domain-chained modeling, and then manipulate and interpret the resulting interactive block maps and network visualizations.

We thank all the wonderful participants for joining and the Istex team and Renatis professional network for welcoming us in Nancy!
