abstract = {Petrochemical wastewater (PWW) is a huge industrial contaminant that generates a wide range of resistive and poisonous organic pollutants that harm animals and plants in natural water bodies when discharged untreated or partially treated. Therefore, it is vital to develop technologies that are simple, efficient, and profitable for the treatment of oily wastewater. Although, much study has been undertaken on the treatment of PWW, there hasn't been any recent work on bibliometrics analysis of global research trends on this issue. A bibliometric analysis will help current and future researchers figure out where the gaps are and how to fill them. The present study's focus is to examine the characteristics and trends of research on oily wastewater treatment with an emphasis on the treatment of PWW. This research was performed on five important aspects, including characterization of research publications; countries' performances and collaborations; an analysis of the best papers with the most citations; keyword analysis (including frequency distribution of the keyword analysis; the transformation of the keyword combination across time; and exploration of changes in rank over time); and journal analysis, according to the 2457 papers in the Science Citation Index Expanded using the Web of Science (WoS) database from 2000 to 2021. For further analysis, the contingency matrix, bump diagram, and inter-temporal network stream were employed.},

abstract = {Algeria ratified the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change which is committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through renewable energy promotion, expanding forest areas and improving water resources. However, the exploration and the exploitation of shale gas are authorized in Algeria. Here, we discuss the socioeconomic factors that have led Algeria to authorize shale gas exploitation regardless of the potential effects of hydraulic fracturing on biodiversity loss and human health under climate change uncertainty context. Data reported show the difficulty to understand the multifaceted aspect of shale gas impacts. Indeed, without a comprehensive environmental assessment (air, soil, water and biodiversity) and human health impacts under climate change context, there is no clear evidence regarding the real costs, on the one hand, and the palpable benefits, on the other, of shale gas exploitation. Scientific data actualization and fully recognizing evidence in the literature are recommended when evaluating the potential adverse effects of unconventional gas on human and animal health, and also when creating hydraulic fracturing legislation. The development of alternative ecofriendly tools and methods to fossil energy sources (e.g., solar photovoltaics, wind, and geothermal energy) has become an emergency to help diversify the economy and safeguard natural resources for future generations.},

abstract = {In recent years (from the late 1990s to 2020), the number of studies comparing regional integration processes around the world has increased significantly. However, the number of papers aiming to group and analyse these studies in order to determine the main trends in the field is still very limited. We attempt to fill this gap by analysing 136 studies (journal articles, book chapters, institutional reports, working papers, research centre publications and university papers such as dissertations and theses) from 1960 to 2020. In this article, we identify the main terms used in comparative regionalism studies and their evolution. We present the historical development of the field and identify the main organisations that are often compared in these studies. We also present the main points of comparison and the methods used in these studies, and discuss the case of the European integration model in comparative regionalism studies (the n=1 problem). This work creates and analyses one of the largest databases available on comparative regionalism studies. It can therefore facilitate the work of students and researchers interested in comparative regionalism and contribute to the development of this field of research.},

abstract = {Addressing agriculture at the landscape level leads to dealing with agricultural landscapes, defined here as landscapes that contain mainly agricultural land uses. In this chapter, we focus on how agronomy and other disciplines have addressed to date agriculture beyond field and farm management. The landscape agronomy framework suggests that addressing agriculture at the landscape level allows farmers to be included with other stakeholders involved in spatially explicit management of natural resources. This framework also bridges gaps with other disciplines that work to describe and understand agricultural landscapes and their management. In addition to this qualitative summary of the scientific background, we present results of a bibliometric analysis that used the CorTexT platform to explore research keywords, (inter)disciplinary bridges and emerging issues related to these topics. The results highlighted the emergence of climate change, ecosystem services and management practices in the literature related to agronomic terms, especially when landscape is explicitly mentioned in publications’ titles, abstracts or keywords. In the end, we draw conclusions about potential improvements to this conceptual framework and introduce the structure of the present book about advances and challenges of a territorial approach to agricultural issues.},

The prevailing health and biomedical sciences (HBMS) research agenda, not only determined by leading academic institutions but also by large pharmaceutical companies, has been shown to prioritize the exploration of novel pharmacological interventions over the study of the socio-environmental factors influencing illness onset and progression. The aim of this investigation is to quantitatively explore whether and to what extent the prevailing international HBMS research agenda and the key actors setting this agenda influence research in non-core countries.
Methods
We used the Web of Science database and the CorText platform to proxy the HBMS research agenda of a prestigious research institution from Latin America: Argentina’s National Research Council (CONICET). We conducted a bibliometric and lexical analysis of 16,309 HBMS academic articles whereby CONICET was among the authors' affiliations. The content of CONICET’s agenda was represented through co-occurrence network maps of the most frequent concatenation of terms found in titles, keywords, and abstracts. We compared our findings with previous reports on the international HBMS research agenda.
Results
In line with the results previously reported for the prevailing international agenda, we found that terms linked to molecular biology and cancer research hegemonize CONICET’s HBMS research agenda, whereas terms connecting HBMS research with socio-environmental cues are marginal. However, we also found differences with the international agenda: CONICET's HBMS agenda shows a marginal presence of terms linked to translational medicine, while terms associated with categories such as pathogens, plant research, agrobiotechnology, and food industry are more represented than in the prevailing agenda.
Conclusions
CONICET’s HBMS research agenda shares topics, priorities, and methodologies with the prevailing HBMS international research agenda. However, CONICET's HBMS research agenda is internally heterogeneous, appearing to be mostly driven by a combination of elements that not only reflect academic dependency (the adoption of the prevailing research agenda by non-core research institutions) but also local economic determinants associated with Argentina’s place in the international division of labor as an exporter of primary goods.},

abstract = {Value chains are an important driver for the current labor dynamics in the agri-food sector, and agri-food value chain sustainability strongly depends on decent work conditions. An increasing literature body have been investigated the interactions between chain agents and how it impacted labor issues. Our aim was to map the scientific landscape of the scientific knowledge on labor in agri-food value chains. We performed a bibliometric review of 343 articles indexed in the Web of Science based on descriptive and network analysis of articles metadata, which covered authors, journals, citation times, keywords and countries. We showed that labor in agri-food value chains has an international audience, despite that knowledge production was largely built by a restraint leading scientific network. Overall, the scientific knowledge is organized into four main research domains on labor in agri-food value chains: (1) labor governance in global value chains through standards, (2) employment in value chains and impacts on socioeconomic conditions of rural areas, (3) gender issues and value chains, (4) labor and upgrading in global value chains. The controversies in the international literature regarding labor issues in the agri-food value chains, and blind spots of current research are discussed.},

To analyze COVID-19 news articles explicitly, this paper proposes a prism architecture. Based on epidemic-related news on China Daily and CNN, this paper identifies the topics of the two news agencies, elucidates the relationship between and amongst these topics, tracks topic changes as the epidemic progresses and presents the results visually and compellingly.
Findings
The analysis results show that CNN has a more concentrated distribution of topics than China Daily, with the former focusing on government-related information, and the latter on medical. Besides, the pandemic has had a big impact on CNN and China Daily's reporting preference. The evolution analysis of news topics indicates that the dynamic changes of topics have a strong relationship with the pandemic process.
Originality/value
This paper offers novel perspectives to review the topics of COVID-19 news articles and provide new understandings of news articles during the initial outbreak. The analysis results expand the scope of infodemic-related studies.

abstract = {This current study examines how research themes and trends have developed in the e-commerce field, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of e-commerce research based on prior literature. To answer this question, the current study applied a bibliometric method, word co-occurrence (co-word) analysis, to identify core research themes and trends in the e-commerce field, based on 17,416 author-provided keywords collected from 3,284 academic articles published between 2001 and 2020 in seven major journals in e-commerce field. Specifically, the data were analyzed based on two periods: 2001–2010 and 2011–2020. We found that the research themes in the e-commerce field have evolved alongside technology’s development and diffusion. Some research themes, such as recommended system and eGovernment, have persisted as important research themes and studied continuously over the 20 years studied. Some research themes studied in 2001–2010, such as B2C and XML, disappeared in 2011–2020, whereas some new research topics, such as cloud computing, mobile technologies, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, emerged in recent years. This study provides a good understanding of e-commerce research’s evolution, as well as useful suggestions to direct future research by scholars in the e-commerce field.},

abstract = {Retail electricity markets require development to ensure efficient and equitable pass through of wholesale electricity costs to customers. Customer engagement has been heralded as a concept to improve the wholesale-to-retail link, better harness flexible demand loads and co-ordinate distributed renewable generation and storage. This study reviews the state-of-the-art customer engagement trends in retail electricity markets, and in doing so, it first establishes a definition of customer engagement in the context of retail electricity markets. Second, the paper identifies that literature on customer engagement revolves around three key strategic themes, namely ‘Customer Focus’, ‘Tariff Design’ and ‘Innovation’. Third, the paper systematically provides a comprehensive review of these customer engagement strategies in retail electricity markets. Finally, the study identifies the technical, market and social requirements to deliver an innovative retail electricity market structure to decarbonise society. This paper's crucial and novel policy recommendation is that integrating market mechanisms and technology (i.e. cross-linking across the three customer engagement strategy themes) is required to ensure robust and efficient retail electricity market operation as society advances to a net zero economy. The study concludes with the establishment of eight future research directions of customer engagement for retail electricity market design.},

abstract = {Growing genetically resistant plants allows pathogen populations to be controlled and reduces the use of pesticides. However, pathogens can quickly overcome such resistance. In this context, how can we achieve sustainable crop protection? This crucial question has remained largely unanswered despite decades of intense debate and research effort. In this study, we used a bibliographic analysis to show that the research field of resistance durability has evolved into three subfields: (1) “plant breeding” (generating new genetic material), (2) “molecular interactions” (exploring the molecular dialogue governing plant–pathogen interactions) and (3) “epidemiology and evolution” (explaining and forecasting of pathogen population dynamics resulting from selection pressure[s] exerted by resistant plants). We argue that this triple split of the field impedes integrated research progress and ultimately compromises the sustainable management of genetic resistance. After identifying a gap among the three subfields, we argue that the theoretical framework of population genetics could bridge this gap. Indeed, population genetics formally explains the evolution of all heritable traits, and allows genetic changes to be tracked along with variation in population dynamics. This provides an integrated view of pathogen adaptation, in particular via evolutionary–epidemiological feedbacks. In this Opinion Note, we detail examples illustrating how such a framework can better inform best practices for developing and managing genetically resistant cultivars.},

abstract = {Sustainable agrifood global value chains depend on chain governance by the lead firm and transaction governance. However, the link between them is still unclear. We therefore investigated the scientific field on “governance in agrifood global value chain” over 15 years in the Scopus and Web of Science databases through two analyses: a descriptive bibliometric and a keywords co-occurrence analysis. Our descriptive results show that the research on the theme has increased over the years, with a concentration of the papers published in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, with emphasis on Wageningen University. The network graph showed a multidisciplinary theoreticomplcal field and four axes: chain governance; transaction governance; horizontal relationships; political and structural elements. The chain and the transaction governance are indirectly linked by the concept of upgrading, compromising sustainability’s holistic view. Although the sustainability of the chain depends on both levels of governance, this bibliometric study showed that there is a gap to be filled in this topic. We propose a study in the light of both concepts, considering upgrading, vertical and horizontal relationships, as well as public policies.},

This systematic review provides an overview of studies on pesticide residues during the last decade and the related human health risk assessment. Thirty-five original articles published since 2010 reporting the levels of pesticide residues in raw cow's milk in 69 regions from 15 countries were reviewed. Data showed that pesticide residue levels were ranked as, DDTs> permethrin> bifenthrin> Drins> endrin> endosulfan> HCHs> cyhalothrin> cypermethrin> heptachlor> ethion> coumaphos> deltamethrin> dimethoate, chlorpyriphos> profenofos> malathion> dichlorvos> parathion methyl> carbaryl> aldicarb> carbofuran> methamidophos. High geographic variation was observed, and many regions appear as contaminated zones with high risks such as Punjab in Pakistan (× 3080 > MRL and × 113 > MRL for Cypermethrin and Drins, respectively), Sand Pedro in Columbia (× 1090 > MRL and × 200 > MRL for endrin and Drins, respectively), and Gezira State in Sudan (× 109 > MRL DDTs). The risk assessment for humans indicated that HQ Drins values were > 1 in Columbia (Sucre, Casa Azul, San Pedro, Costanera, Sabanas, Sinú Medio, and San Jorge regions), and in Pakistan (Punjab region). Moreover, the HQ values for endrin were > 1 in Sinú Medio (Colombia) and for heptachlor in Costanera region, Sinú Medio, and Sabanas (Colombia). Furthermore, HI values were > 1 in seven regions in Colombia, 1 region in Pakistan, 1 region in Egypt and 1 region in Turkey, suggesting a serious health risk. To enhance the efficiency of material management, we define a computer-vision-enabled material measurement system and provide a review of works relevant to its development with particular emphasis on the foundations. abstract = {This paper presents a contribution to the study of bibliographic corpora through science mapping. From a graph representation of documents and their textual dimension, stochastic block models can provide a simultaneous clustering of documents and words that we call a domain-topic model. Previous work investigated the resulting topics, or word clusters, while ours focuses on the study of the document clusters we call domains. To enable the description and interactive navigation of domains, we introduce measures and interfaces that consider the structure of the model to relate both types of clusters. We then present a procedure that extends the block model to cluster metadata attributes of documents, which we call a domain-chained model, noting that our measures and interfaces transpose to metadata clusters. We provide an example application to a corpus relevant to current science, technology and society (STS) research and an interesting case for our approach: the abstracts presented between 1995 and 2017 at the American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting, the major oncology research conference. Through a sequence of domain-topic and domain-chained models, we identify and describe a group of domains that have notably grown through the last decades and which we relate to the establishment of “oncopolicy” as a major concern in oncology.},

abstract = {Systematic reviews summarize the progress of studies and pave roads for future research in an academic field. However, conducting a systematic literature review can be burdensome and time-consuming. Computer-assisted methods such as text mining techniques have been increasingly applied to improve systematic reviews in public administration. To test the reliability of using text mining for systematic literature reviews, this study uses clustering, topic modeling, automatic multi-term extraction, and text network to systematically review articles published in Chinese Public Administration Review from 2002 to 2019. By comparing machine-produced topics with existing human-coded themes, findings show that applying text mining methods for systematic reviews can be reliable and effective with cautions. The study also offers practical suggestions for researchers to apply text mining methods for systematic literature reviews.},

abstract = {Research institutions organize their scientific activities in an increasingly diverse landscape. In matters of global interest, research relies on an ever-more cross-disciplinary background, which reveals intriguing questions concerning the local dynamics vs. global audiences. This paper proposes new methodological tools to assess, from a strategic perspective, the evolution of a given research landscape. It relies on the Global Research Institute of Paris’ recent experience, a new interdisciplinary Institute focusing on globalization topics beyond the usual economic meaning. The Institute leans on a broad and diverse set of research units of the Université de Paris and relates to the broad landscape of social sciences in France. This article charts the evolution of French authors’ scientific publications on the Institute’s thematic interests in French and English. It focuses on the structural features of the debate, namely the volume, the underlying historical semantic structure, and its main thematic domains. abstract = {This paper examines the innovation strategy of Siemens, a key player in Europe’s digital economy, by performing network and lexical analyses using data derived from Siemens’s patents and scientific publications since 1998. We observe that the company’s innovation efforts evolved from a broader attempt to develop internal information and communication technology (ICT) capabilities – alongside its historical industrial priorities – to a strategy focused on developing artificial intelligence (AI) for sector-specific and niche applications (such as life and medical sciences). As a result, it became dependent on tech giants’ clouds for accessing more general AI services and digital infrastructure. We build on the intellectual monopoly literature focusing on the effects of tech giants on other leading corporations, to analyse Siemens’s experience. By abandoning the development of general ICT and given the emergence of tech giants as digital economy intellectual monopolies, we show that Siemens is risking its technological autonomy towards these big tech companies. Our results provide clues to understand the challenges faced by Europe and its firms in relation to US and Chinese tech giants.},

abstract = {Concentrated solar power is an alternative renewable energy technology that converts solar energy into electrical energy by using a solar concentrator and a solar receiver. Computational fluid dynamics have been used to numerically design concentrated solar power. This is a powerful numerical analysis approach that is widely used in energy and environmental engineering applications. In this paper, we review previous work on the applications of computational fluid dynamics in the design of concentrated solar power technology. We performed a bibliometric analysis of journal articles relevant to applications to analyze the current trend of utilization of computational fluid dynamics in these technologies. Then, we conducted a comprehensive analysis focused on the design of solar dish technology using computational fluid dynamics. Furthermore, we reviewed in detail the optical modeling of solar concentrators and solar receivers. Of the 83 retrieved publications from Scopus database, 80 were journal articles, and only three were review papers. Among these 80 journal articles, only 54 were relevant to this study, and 23 were relevant to solar dish technology. The documents were analyzed according to their number of citations, journal sources, and keyword evolution and network map. The information presented in this paper is useful to further recognize the contributions of computational fluid dynamics to the development of concentrated solar power, particularly to solar dish technology. In addition, we also discuss the challenges and future research directions to make solar energy a more sustainable source of renewable energy.},

abstract = {This paper examines the origins of global leaders under intellectual monopoly capitalism. State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), the leading firm in artificial intelligence applications for the energy sector, became an intellectual monopoly relying heavily on China's national innovation system –particularly public research organizations and public funding, and innovation and energy policies. SGCC is unique because it did not rely on technology transfer from global leaders, unlike other national champions from developing or emerging countries. We provide evidence that contributes to thinking that SGCC first became a national intellectual monopoly and only afterwards expanded that monopoly globally. We empirically study SGCC's innovation networks. We proxy them using big data techniques to analyze the content, co-authors and co-owners of its publications and patents. Results also suggest that SGCC is capturing intellectual rents from its increasingly transnational and technologically diverse innovation networks by leveraging its national innovation system.},

abstract = {First flush is a phenomenon in stormwater runoff that has been considered a topic of great interest in the field of nonpoint source pollution. Despite several attempts to define the first flush quantitively, the specified characteristics of the phenomenon vary among sources. To address these uncertainties, a bibliometric and comprehensive review on published articles related to first flush was conducted. A corpus of 403 research articles was obtained from the Scopus database, which was then parsed using the CorText Manager for the bibliometric analysis. The study examined quantitative definitions of first flush from various sources; climate and topographic characteristics of monitoring and experimental sites where the studies on first flush were performed; the sample collection methods applied; the first flush values obtained on the studies and how it influenced the nonpoint source pollution in urban watersheds. A network map, two contingency matrices, and a Sankey diagram were created to visualize the relationship of significant keywords related to first flush, as well as their co-occurrences with journals, countries, and years. It was found that the strength of the first flush effect could vary depending on the geographical location of the site, climatic conditions, and the pollutants being analyzed. Therefore, initial rainfall monitoring, runoff sampling, and water quality testing were seen as critical steps in characterizing the first flush in urban catchments. Furthermore, the characterization of first flush was found to be significant to the selection of best management practices and design of low-impact development (LID) technologies for stormwater runoff management and nonpoint source pollution control.},

abstract = {Syngas fermentation, in which microorganisms convert H2, CO, and CO2 to acids and alcohols, is a promising alternative for carbon cycling and valorization. The intellectual landscape of the topic was characterized through a bibliometric analysis using a search query (SQ) that included all relevant documents on syngas fermentation available through the Web of Science database up to December 31st, 2021. The SQ was validated with a preliminary analysis in bibliometrix and a review of titles and abstracts of all sources. Although syngas fermentation began in the early 1980s, it grew rapidly beginning in 2008, with 92.5% of total publications and 87.3% of total citations from 2008 to 2021. The field has been steadily moving from fundamentals towards applications, suggesting that the field is maturing scientifically. The greatest number of publications and citations are from the USA, and researchers in China, Germany, and Spain also are highly active. Although collaborations have increased in the past few years, author-cluster analysis shows specialized research domains with little collaboration between groups. Based on topic trends, the main challenges to be address are related to mass-transfer limitations, and researchers are starting to explore mixed cultures, genetic engineering, microbial chain elongation, and biorefineries.},

abstract = {While historically the core missions of universities have been research and teaching, it has become increasingly recognised that universities have become significant sources of knowledge and capabilities. This third mission is cementing the role of universities as suppliers of qualified labour and generators of knowledge and technologies that promote innovation in a variety of innovation ecosystems. The main goal of the paper is to illustrate an approach that captures the various contributions of universities to their innovation ecosystems. Often territorially bounded, such links provide insights into the characteristics and geography of the various linkage for a university. With the case of the University of Bergen and its role within the marine innovation ecosystem of Western Norway, this ‘ecosystem fingerprint’, can be seen as a useful means to clarify the third mission of universities through the linkages and interdependencies with various actors. The authors demonstrate that a university can act both as a global pipeline provider and take active part in the local buzz, providing this concept with new empirical insight. The authors conclude that the university is highly embedded in both the marine innovation ecosystem and the knowledge ecosystem, but with linkages extended to interconnected business ecosystems.},

abstract = {Supply Networks (SN) can be seriously affected by unplanned disruptions producing important consequences on system’s functioning. These alterations may have implications over dimensions of sustainability due to the re-adaptation of the network to cope with the disruptive event. In this sense, it is relevant to understand how sustainability can be measured while considering aspects like resilience and network’s dynamism. This article presents a critical review to enhance the understanding of sustainability assessment of supply networks affected by disruptions under a CAS perspective. A non-systematic literature search was conducted where relevant studies were identified. The dissociation between sustainability and resilience observed in literature was discussed from motivational, temporal and methodological perspectives. The review led to the proposition of four principles that underpin the conceptual foundations that should guide the development of any complexity-driven sustainability assessment methodology (SAM). Moreover, using agent-based modelling as the core computational paradigm, a SAM framework was outlined as a first step to implement a functioning tool that embeds the new assessment approach. Finally, the article concludes that sustainability should adopt a complexity-oriented approach when analysing disruptions. Challenges for future research such as delimitation of sustainability boundaries and validation of models are also discussed.},

Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyse the relevant literature on food safety in the food supply chain, examine its current status, hot spots, and development trends, and provide some suggestions for academics and relevant government departments in food supply chain safety research.
Methods
We collected the literature on the food safety research of the food supply chain from the Scopus database, used BibExcel to count the subject categories, published journals, geographical distributions, research institutions, authors, and keywords in the literature, and used Pajek software to analyse the keywords in the literature, perform co-occurrence analysis, draw related knowledge maps, and perform cluster analysis on primary keywords. Finally, to study the development trend, we used CorTexT software to illustrate the theme evolution path map in this research field.
Results
The keyword visualization network revealed the following key research topics: (1) food safety at the consumer end of the food supply chain, (2) food safety management in the food supply chain, (3) risk management of food safety in the food safety chain, and (4) food safety at the production end of the food supply chain.
Conclusions

abstract = {The field encompassing biomimetics, bioinspiration and nature inspiration in engineering science is growing steadily, pushed by exogenous factors like the search for potentially sustainable engineering solutions that might exist already in nature. With help of information provided by bibliometric database and further processed with dynamic network and semantic analysis tool, we provide insight at two scales on the corpus of nature inspired engineering field and its dynamics. At macro scale, the Web of Science® (WoS) categories, countries and institutions are ranked and ordered by thematic clusters and country networks, highlighting leading countries and institutions and how they focus on specific topics. Such an insight provides an overview at a macro scale that can be valuable to orient scientific strategy at the country level. At meso scale where science is incarnated by collaborative networks of authors and institutions that run across countries, we identify six semantic clusters and subclusters within them, and their dynamics. We also pinpoint leading academic collaborative networks and their activity in relation with the six semantic clusters. Trends and prospective are also discussed. Typically one observe that the field is becoming mature since, starting by imitating nature, it proceeded with mimicking more complex natural structures and functions and now it investigates ways used in nature in response to changes in the environment and implements them in innovative and adaptive artefacts. The sophistication of devices, methods and tools has been increasing over the years as well as their functionalities and adaptability whereas the size of devices has decreased at the same time.},

abstract = {In Europe, there is an increasing interest in pulses both for their beneficial effects in cropping systems and for human health. However, despite these advantages, the acreage dedicated to pulses has been declining and their diversity has reduced, particularly in European temperate regions, due to several social and economic factors. This decline has stimulated a political debate in the EU on the development of plant proteins. By contrast, in Southern countries, a large panel of minor pulses is still cropped in regional patterns of production and consumption. The aim of this paper is to investigate the potential for cultivation of minor pulses in European temperate regions as a complement to common pulses. Our assumption is that some of these crops could adapt to different pedoclimatic conditions, given their physiological adaptation capacity, and that these pulses might be of interest for the development of innovative local food chains in an EU policy context targeting protein autonomy. The research is based on a systematic review of 269 papers retrieved in the Scopus database (1974–2019), which allowed us to identify 41 pulses as candidate species with protein content higher than 20% that are already consumed as food. For each species, the main agronomic (e.g., temperature or water requirements) and nutritional characteristics (e.g., proteins or antinutritional contents) were identified in their growing regions. Following their agronomic characteristics, the candidate crops were confronted with variability in the annual growing conditions for spring crops in Western European temperate areas to determine the earliest potential sowing and latest harvest dates. Subsequently, the potential sum of temperatures was calculated with the Agri4cast database to establish the potential climatic suitability. For the first time, 21 minor pulses were selected to be grown in these temperate areas and appear worthy of investigation in terms of yield potential, nutritional characteristics or best management practices. },

abstract = {While intentions are commonly assessed in humans, this is not the case in non-human animals, which may limit the accuracy of the assessment of their welfare status, which depends, in particular, on whether their expectations are met. Our assumption is that the current approaches in ethology do not take into consideration the possibility that animals have intentions. Our objective is to find the way to evaluate animal intentions. Method: We have developed a two-steps method: i) a bibliometric investigation to identify and select key approaches to study intention within a team gathering ethologists, psychologists and epistemologists. ii) The key approaches identified were confronted to current practices in ethology through three one-day interdisciplinary workshops, gathering 21 researchers in ethology, psychology, law, philosophy, veterinary, learning sciences, management sciences and design. Each workshop had three stages: a disciplinary assessment, an interdisciplinary prospect and a collective design. Results: Step 1: In Scopus database from the 2016-2020, we extracted 89 000 papers with intention in title and keywords. Only 1% of them were explicitly dealing with intention in non-human animals. We analysed the co-occurrence of the authors’ keywords of this 1% papers, to specify the scientific approaches with the CorText Platform. We found 10 discrepant approaches: behavioural flexibility & social context; human-animal interaction & domestication; mirror neuron & language; flexibility & meaning; self-domestication & disease; comparative cognition & auditory; handedness & manipulation; brain evolution & cultural evolution; antiphony & duets and teaching & tradition. All are relative to what we know about human intention, none was specific of what could be non-human animal intention. Step 2: The 3 workshops were successful. Disciplinary assessment: all participants translated the ten approaches into relevant scientific concepts, method and questions in their own discipline. Interdisciplinary prospect: split in groups, participants co-elaborated a hypothesis to study animal intentions based on the combination of concepts, methods and questions gathered on 3 of 10 approaches. Here are three examples: H1. Intention is not directly accessible, but it can be expressed through behavioural adaptations in the relationship. H2. The study of the environment effects on interactions reveals intentions. H3. Interactions have different repercussions on the maintenance or emission or even the valence of the behaviour or intention. Collective design: 7 protocols to test the hypothesis were developed. We will present the overall outputs of the workshops and discuss the power of hypothesis and protocols to prevent anthropocentric approaches when studying animal intention.},

abstract = {There is a push for integrating concepts of sustainability and sustainable development in engineering education. The U.S. National Society of Professional Engineers’ Code of Ethics expects engineers “to adhere to the principles of sustainable development in order to protect the environment for future generations”. This push has resulted in significant research and efforts to reform engineering curricula to focus on sustainable development, or the “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” in the 1987 Brundtland Commission’s report. Such research and reform efforts can manifest in several forms and contexts, and it can be difficult to obtain a broader picture of how engineering education as a whole is progressing in this area. To help provide a view of that picture, this paper strives to understand the recent trends in engineering education research for sustainable development by analyzing the relationships between the increasingly popular topics of sustainability and sustainable development and how they have evolved over the past two decades.
Using text network analysis, a natural language processing technique, this study explores the thematic structure of scholarly publications that address the integration of sustainability and/or sustainable development in engineering courses, across curricula and across disciplines. In particular, we extract the thematic structure of over 1,500 abstracts of conference proceedings published in the American Society of Engineering Education related to this issue. With the aid of co-occurrence network maps and epoch trend analysis, we identify the major topics among these engineering education studies. Analyses of these trends indicate that the topics of sustainability and sustainable development have been consistently addressed primarily in civil engineering education research for the past two decades. This implies that these topics have not appeared in many other disciplinary areas of research. In addition, renewable energy is one of the more prevalent topics within the area of engineering education for sustainable development. We report our detailed results by providing insights on how these topics have evolved over time, and the semantic similarities between topics that have similar trending patterns.},

abstract = {The open government data (OGD) movement has stimulated the opening and sharing of government data significantly. Data use, reuse and distribution, as well as value creation, is the next vital step in the global OGD movement. Summarizing current research progress of OGD utilization (OGDU) would lay a foundation for follow-up research and provide theoretical support for future practice. This poster conducted a systematic review on OGDU research mainly based on research articles, while other document types (e.g., important scientific reports) were also considered to demonstrate a more holistic scenario. The research trends of OGDU were summarized and future research directions were proposed based on research results. This poster revealed three research tendencies in OGDU studies. First, previous OGDU study was driven by the supply side, while current study tends to motivated by the demand side. Second, previous OGDU study was normally conducted from a macro viewpoint, while fine-grained research is more preferred currently. Third, previous research paid more attention on data usage by government departments, while data usage by the public attracts an increasing amount of attention currently. Several research topics are worth researching in the further, i.e., the value of OGDU, diverse contexts for OGDU and solid support measures for OGDU.},

abstract = {The general electoral campaign in 2019 saw a unifying culmination of the climate activist movement in Denmark, assembling everything from green think tanks, school children and direct-action protest groups, succeeded in conglomerating a forceful public that was later congratulated by the newly elected PM for turning climate into the paramount political issue of the Danish 2019 election. The government has since signed the “most ambitious Climate Act in the world”, including the public engagement initiative of the Climate Citizen Assembly, a group of randomly selected citizens mandated to give recommendations for the parliament’s green politics, and a series of “Climate Partnerships”, cooperative collaborations developing frameworks for businesses to engage in the green transition. Despite these efforts, the climate movement, alongside several scientific experts, has expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s politics on the green agenda, while the government itself maintains that it is upholding an ambitious climate politics.
This paper is based on nine months of mixed-methods research, using the digital tools Hyphe, Gephi and CorText to map the relations between different public Danish actors (informal civil society groups, NGO’s, businesses etc.) and their “matters of concern” (cf. Latour 2004) in the controversy of the Danish green transition. Inspired by literature on counter-mapping data science (Dalton and Stallmann 2018), the study introduces an interventionist methodological experiment in using network maps made with digital methods tools as props for material participation (Marres & Lezeaun 2011) in a workshop setting. As such, the paper seeks to explore how critical discussions of network maps can become a ‘prototype for mobilization’ (cf. Jimenéz 2014) for mapped subjects and entities to collectively evaluate and re-invent both their position in a controversy and their means, methods, and tactics for obtaining public impact. This methodological experiment is framed through a discussion of the experience of participation (Kelty 2018) and ethical attunement and world-building among activists (Zigon 2018), and argues for the potentials for collaborative methods and interventionist use of digital cartography in the field of controversy mapping in relation to the green transition.},

This paper is based on nine months of mixed-methods research, using the digital tools Hyphe, Gephi and CorText to map the relations between different public Danish actors (informal civil society groups, NGO’s, businesses etc.) and their “matters of concern” (cf. Latour 2004) in the controversy of the Danish green transition. Inspired by literature on counter-mapping data science (Dalton and Stallmann 2018), the study introduces an interventionist methodological experiment in using network maps made with digital methods tools as props for material participation (Marres & Lezeaun 2011) in a workshop setting. As such, the paper seeks to explore how critical discussions of network maps can become a ‘prototype for mobilization’ (cf. Jimenéz 2014) for mapped subjects and entities to collectively evaluate and re-invent both their position in a controversy and their means, methods, and tactics for obtaining public impact. This methodological experiment is framed through a discussion of the experience of participation (Kelty 2018) and ethical attunement and world-building among activists (Zigon 2018), and argues for the potentials for collaborative methods and interventionist use of digital cartography in the field of controversy mapping in relation to the green transition.

abstract = {Topic modeling with community detection can be used to explore the latent semantic structure of documents, we can utilize a network, i.e., a graph to depict the semantic relation between words. In some network based topic models, in order to obtain a network with obvious community structure, the similarity between words (vertices) is essential. Word embeddings trained from a large corpus empirically perform as well as in rich semantic representation, thus this research is intended to construct a novel similarity in a network based topic model (NAM). In this paper, we first intuitively propose a similarity measure based on shifted cosine similarity between word embeddings. This similarity is exploited to replace the similarity based on typical point-wise mutual information (PMI). Secondly, based on different similarity measures, topics of corpus in a global period are induced by NAM. Finally, we use NAM to capture the dynamic changes of political topics in China and interpret the dynamic processes using historical background. Although our similarity measure introduces semantic differences caused by the difference between data sets and has one more parameter, the experimental results show the effectiveness of our new proposed measure.},

abstract = {Robert King Merton has played an important role in shaping the field of sociology of science and technology. He defined the main orientations of a collective research program with his 1935 dissertation on Science, Technology and Society in 17th Century England, but even more so through his long-lasting interest in the sociological study of the practices, norms, and values of the scientific community. He succeeded where most of his mentors (Pitirim Sorokin, George Sarton) had previously failed by developing a “disciplinary program” and gathering promising students who tested and pursued some of his intuitions in multiple directions (Dubois 2014). His Columbia University seminar with Harriet Zuckerman on the sociology of science, from 1965 to 1985, played a critical role in this matter. Key contributors to the field of science study have been initially trained in this seminar. And still today the volume edited by Norman Storer for Chicago University Press in 1973—Sociolog y of Science. Theoretical and Empirical Investigations (Merton 1973)—remains an important intellectual landmark.
As we have now reached the fourth (or even the fifth) generation of professional sociologists of science, how should we consider Merton's scientific contribution? Should it be seen as a “patrimonial” component of the field? Merton would have said “Obliteration by incorporation.” I argue here that some of his insights and findings not only still benefit from unexpected visibility but also deserve a more systematic form of critical reappropriation. As one of his former research assistants, Stephen Cole (2004, 843), put it in a quasi-autobiographical essay, “with all its faults, [Merton] had the ability to arouse interest in others—interest that frequently led others to do empirical research. This is, after all, one of the major functions of theoretical work—providing puzzles.”
In this chapter, I examine some of these “Mertonian puzzles” for the study of contemporary science and technology. In the first section, I return briefly to Merton's writings to characterize the main features of his normative approach of science. In the second section, I underline some aspects of the contemporary diffusion of Merton's ideas. Finally, in the third section, I discuss how this program provides some tools to investigate empirically some of the most recent and intriguing forms of evolution in the scientific community.},

abstract = {We are pleased to present the Proceeding book of the 4th IWA Regional Conference on Diffuse Pollution & Eutrophication (DIPCON) that was held in Istanbul, Türkiye from October 24-28, 2022. From widespread pesticide use to heavy metal emissions from vehicular transport to microplastic release into the environment, diffuse pollution has become a major threat to the environment. Widespread soil pollution and eutrophication of water bodies across all continents and their impacts on living organisms and human health are a stark manifestation of the challenges we face. Anticipated climate change is likely to exacerbate the risk to the water resources of numerous regions of the world. Addressing these challenges requires a concerted holistic approach by stakeholders including scientists, engineers, hydrologists, policy makers, NGOs, and water regulators, and awareness and participation on the part of the general public. The purpose of this conference was to bring together these various perspectives thereby contributing to the scientific debate towards alleviating these adverse environmental effects.
DIPCON 2022 was held in Istanbul, Türkiye with more than 120 participants from more than 21 countries. The city of Istanbul, a welcoming vibrant megacity with a magnificent history and natural beauty, is the ideal place to host this meeting. Joining two continents with shores on three different seas, the city underscores the need to protect the environment we live in for the benefit of all.

It is evident that societies need to resort to nature based solutions that balance the need for economic growth and food security with ecological protection. Speakers highlighted the need to utilize the latest technologies to develop models and monitoring tools at all scales for the sustainable use of available resources and the development of informed science-based policies.},

abstract = {This research offers new theoretical and methodological approaches to studying infrastructures in the making, through a pragmatist approach and by mobilising ANT methodology. This making process entails infrastructures as complex networks of things and people and as systems that co-exist and co-evolve with other forms of urban mobility. These systems are not only being built ‘in space’, but as ‘space making’ mechanisms have the potential to shift relations, priorities, and the future of cities. While scholars recognise infrastructures as relational, processual, and constituents of larger heterogeneous networks of actors, the very nature of the space that is produced through their making is yet to be expressed explicitly and/or on multiple scales. More specifically, we are yet to thoroughly theorise how through their conceptualisation and construction, infrastructures extend beyond themselves to shift the very nature of cities that contain them.
This thesis maps the controversy of the Blanka tunnel in Prague, where infrastructure becomes a lens through which we 'read' the city and its constant changes. This helps us explain how a city like Prague negotiates to maintain its historic and cultural character as a 'modern' metropolis. The pragmatic approach and ANT methodology do not see the tunnel as a stable artefact that is influenced purely by political decision-making, financial constraints or technical challenges. We refrain from using predefined explanatory frameworks or panoramic views and employ a series of ‘oligoptica’ (Latour and Hermant 1996) - narrow windows that allow us to see specific aspects of its making in detail.
We map the key actors and concerns of the controversy and see the network of the tunnel unfold, revealing various groups of human and non-human entities. Locating ourselves in specific places of practice, we witness how the tunnel is designed, managed, observed, controlled, discussed, and argued for, and we capture its making through as many voices and actions as possible. We follow the many planning and technical reports, road design manuals, bills of quantities, guidelines and standards, and technical drawings, allowing us to trace how the design and technology of the tunnel inform the re-making of Prague. By documenting the implementation of adopted technical design solutions that respond to the key issues of the controversy, we analyse how the discursive challenges of the project are translated onto its technical/material level and vice versa.
The thesis contributes to conceptual and methodological discussions on the ‘infrastructuring’ of cities, drawing on mobilities, the material turn, STS and ANT. By tracing a live infrastructural project in the making the thesis shows that the making of Blanka is an ‘infrastructuring’ of Prague. This means that the procedures and actions involving its planning and implementation are not just happening in space and time but produce space and time as they transform and question the very nature of the city.},

abstract = {According to tallies by the UNHCR at the end of June 2022, since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine more than 5.2 million refugees have fled Ukraine and relocated across Europe, with over a million residing in neighbouring Poland (2022). Poland has played an important role in facilitating rescue corridors for Ukrainians, at one point welcoming almost half of the total number of refugees. At the onset of the war, Polish media started to report an alarming rise in controversial narratives shared on social media platforms concerning Ukranians (Wirtualne Media, Onet.pl, RMF24, Konkret24).
Among these are calls for reducing aid to the Ukrainian refugees, evoking historical, economic or other arguments that seek to undermine public sentiment and eagerness to help. The stakes can be high. There have been extreme situations that threaten the most vulnerable such as when there was an orchestrated buy out of necessities and queues at gas stations.
