abstract = {Since 2008, the Cortext Platform contributes expertise, infrastructure and computing power for the analysis of "socio-semantic networks", benefiting a global community engaged primarily in original research in the social sciences and humanities, but also assisting literature reviews in a host of others fields, as well as policy and business applications. In 2022, at least 60 peer-reviewed academic publications made direct use of our services, adding to a total of over 300. This presentation will focus on SASHIMI (Hannud Abdo, 2021), a network based, mixed-methods approach recently developed in addition to our earlier Network Mapping methods (Cointet 2012, Cointet 2017), available as both a suite of no-code methods in the free-to-use Cortext Manager cloud service, and a free-and-open-source software library. We will present SASHIMI through some examples of socio-semantic analyses: (a) from the field of Transition Studies, an inquiry into the variety of disciplinary manifestations throughout the social sciences of the "research problem of destabilisation of socio-technical systems", that seeks to inform current destabilisation/discontinuation/phase-out studies with a wider understanding of the problem. (b) from the field of Science and Technology Studies, an analysis of policy documents pertaining to the regulation of artificial intelligence, identifying the interplay between major actors associated with different themes, sectors and perspectives (solutionism, contestation, regulation) on the issue; (c) still in STS, an analysis of social media interactions concerning environmental controversies, focusing on the debate around pesticides in France. SASHIMI is based on domain-topic models, an application of network clustering that synthesizes document clustering (or clustering of any kind of hypernode) and topic modeling. It is also based on a suite of human interfaces — block maps, network maps, and hyperlinked tables — that afford interactive exploration and visualization of the different types of clusters, and their relationships, at discrete levels of granularity ranging from the entire corpus to the individual document, from the entire vocabulary to the individual word. The clustering aspect is based on modern community detection methods, namely the Nested Stochastic Block Model (Peixoto, 2015), while introducing a twist to allow further clustering of dimensions attributed to hypernodes (documents), such as people, time, venue or other categorical metadata, that did not participate in the initial clustering — excluded, for example, in order to produce "semantic" document clusters based exclusively on textual contents. To this particular procedure we give the name "chaining". In the context of the three aforementioned examples, we'll explain a set of concepts and practices, emerging from our usage, to productively co-construct meaning between the representations afforded by the models and interfaces, and the goals, inputs and choices of a researcher with field and experiential knowledge. Particularly, how to interpret the clusters and the specificity and commonality scores of inter-cluster relationships employed in the maps, how to build sequences of corpus delimitation and dimension chaining operations and interpret them, and finally how to construct coherent domain groups we call "constellations", and identify attribute flows in their cores and frontiers. },

AFNs have developed in parallel to prosumption, which is significant because AFNs are oriented towards localized and direct relationships between producers and consumers, while prosumption explains the hybridization of the consumer into a more complex and productive actor. Scholars argue that producer-consumer reconnections enable greater transparency and information exchange between the two types of actors. In addition, digitalization has recently brought new perspectives for both prosumption and AFN research. We explain the digital food prosumption phenomenon by drawing upon several years of research on an alternative food network with strong digital focus – La Ruche qui dit Oui!. As a decentralized network of local food operations that converge around a digital platform, it provides innovative virtual-material mediations between producers and consumers. This suggests that increasingly, consumers may be getting more deeply engaged in the (co-)production of commodities across different sectors and activities. Thus, while the prosumption and AFN literatures have mostly existed in parallel, future efforts should be made to intersect these two areas of sociological research. This is particularly pertinent today, as both prosumption and AFN phenomena are now increasingly mediated by powerful digital technologies. In the digital age, the alternative food prosumer phenomenon may well contribute to reconfiguring global food flows and industrial cultures towards sustainability.},

We showed the pathogen was recently introduced, and we generated a list of candidate genes that could play a major role in the adaptation of X. fastidiosa to new environments.},

Pour conduire une telle analyse réflexive, nous avons mobilisé des outils et des compétences venant des « data sciences », plus particulièrement le logiciel d’analyse textuelle Iramuteq1 et les outils en ligne de la plateforme CorTexT2. La mise en œuvre de ces instruments a été accompagnée par une Master Class à destination des agents de la Direction de l’Expertise scientifique collective, de la prospective et des études (DEPE) d’INRAE de façon à développer les compétences individuelles et collectives en analyse textuelle et à mobiliser les savoir-faire dans la constitution des corpus analysés. La synthèse ci-après présente les résultats d’une partie des analyses réalisées sur le corpus constitué des résumés (d’une dizaine de pages) des trois types d’opérations conduites depuis 2000 : 17 expertises scientifiques collectives, 11 études et 16 prospectives. },

abstract = {Le sujet des radiofréquences et de la santé est un sujet qui a été examiné à différentes reprises ces vingt dernières années, que soit par l’Agence Française de Sécurité Sanitaire de l’Environnement, l’Agence Française de Sécurité Sanitaire et du Travail, ou l’Agence Nationale de Sécurité Sanitaire (ANSES). Les différents rapports d’expertise produit sont concerné les effets sanitaires des radiofréquences (2009, 2013), les débits d’absorption spécifiques (2019), l’exposition des enfants aux radiofréquences (2016), les compteurs communicants(2017), l’électro-hypersensibilité(2018). Chacun des rapports a mobilisé des spécialités scientifiques diverses, de la dosimétrie à la biologie des radiations, en passant par la bio-électromagnétique et l’épidémiologie.Si l’on représente les aires bibliographiques plus ou moins larges que représente chaque rapport, on obtient l’image d’un champ de recherche particulièrement vaste et composite. Les rapports ont utilisé un ensemble de références communes, qui incarnent le cœur ou les cœurs du sujet.
La scientométrie, discipline de l’analyse quantitative des textes scientifiques, est une des méthodes qui permet d’appréhender ce ou ces champs de recherche imbriqués, et ce de manière holistique. Le travail de scientométrie présenté ici vise à analyser le champ des publications scientifiques portant sur l’exposition aux radiofréquences (RF) et leurs effets biologiques et sanitaires,à l’échelle internationale depuis les années 1996.Le travail vise à appréhender l’ensemble des spécialités et aires de recherche qui participent de l’étude des radiofréquences et de la santé, et leurs inter-relations. Il est guidé par une question d’ensemble: en matière de radiofréquences et santé, qui travaille sur quoi, et avec qui? Cette question descriptive permet de tirer des enseignements sur un ensemble d’autres questions :faut-il approcher le sujet radiofréquences et santé comme un ensemble d’aires de recherches liées les unes aux autres par quelques spécialistes ou collectifs et auteurs clés, ou existe-t-il une aire de recherche interdisciplinaire centrale en la matière ? Y a-t-il une diversité de réseaux de recherche distincts sur le sujet, ou peut-on distinguer des réseaux plus centraux et intégrateurs ?Si oui, sur quoi se spécialisent-ils, quelles questions posent-ils (et ne posent-ils pas)? Quels effets sanitaires et quelles technologies émettrices d’onde regardent-ils prioritairement? Dans quelle mesure et comment ces groupes structurent-ils l’offre d’expertise scientifique? Les analyses présentées dans ce rapport ont été principalement réalisées avec l’outil informatique de la plateforme CorText, appelé CorText Manager, sur un corpus de 25980 notices bibliographiques collectées via Scopus le 06/05/2019. Le corpus généré est un corpus que l’on peut considérer comme large, et hétérogène en termes de spécialités scientifiques. Le corpus est donc calibré pour attraper la diversité des sous-champs et de réseaux de recherches sur les radiofréquences et santé, et analyser la structure d’ensemble de leurs relations, plus qu’il n’est conçu pour faire l’analyse fine, indépendante, de sous-champs ou de réseaux faisant partie du champ d’ensemble. Le rapport est structuré en cinq parties. La première introduit la méthode suivie pour constituer le corpus, et explicite les effets de la requête choisie pour interroger la base de données Scopus. La deuxième partie présente un ensemble de tableaux généraux des publications constituant le corpus. La troisième partie rentre dans l’analyse de la structure du champ de recherche, par l’intermédiaire de la visualisation des réseaux de co-publication. La quatrième partie croise les données sur les auteurs, avec les données sur la fréquence des termes décrivant ce sur quoi ils travaillent (technologies, effets). La cinquième partie localise les scientifiques agissant comme expert dans différents organismes dans le champ de recherche, afin de proposer des analyses sur la question de savoir quelle science, et quels réseaux de recherche sont mobilisés dans l’expertise.},

Le sujet des radiofréquences et de la santé est un sujet qui a été examiné à différentes reprises ces vingt dernières années, que soit par l’Agence Française de Sécurité Sanitaire de l’Environnement, l’Agence Française de Sécurité Sanitaire et du Travail, ou l’Agence Nationale de Sécurité Sanitaire (ANSES). Les différents rapports d’expertise produit sont concerné les effets sanitaires des radiofréquences (2009, 2013), les débits d’absorption spécifiques (2019), l’exposition des enfants aux radiofréquences (2016), les compteurs communicants(2017), l’électro-hypersensibilité(2018). Chacun des rapports a mobilisé des spécialités scientifiques diverses, de la dosimétrie à la biologie des radiations, en passant par la bio-électromagnétique et l’épidémiologie.Si l’on représente les aires bibliographiques plus ou moins larges que représente chaque rapport, on obtient l’image d’un champ de recherche particulièrement vaste et composite. Les rapports ont utilisé un ensemble de références communes, qui incarnent le cœur ou les cœurs du sujet.
La scientométrie, discipline de l’analyse quantitative des textes scientifiques, est une des méthodes qui permet d’appréhender ce ou ces champs de recherche imbriqués, et ce de manière holistique. Le travail de scientométrie présenté ici vise à analyser le champ des publications scientifiques portant sur l’exposition aux radiofréquences (RF) et leurs effets biologiques et sanitaires,à l’échelle internationale depuis les années 1996.Le travail vise à appréhender l’ensemble des spécialités et aires de recherche qui participent de l’étude des radiofréquences et de la santé, et leurs inter-relations. Il est guidé par une question d’ensemble: en matière de radiofréquences et santé, qui travaille sur quoi, et avec qui? Cette question descriptive permet de tirer des enseignements sur un ensemble d’autres questions :faut-il approcher le sujet radiofréquences et santé comme un ensemble d’aires de recherches liées les unes aux autres par quelques spécialistes ou collectifs et auteurs clés, ou existe-t-il une aire de recherche interdisciplinaire centrale en la matière ? Y a-t-il une diversité de réseaux de recherche distincts sur le sujet, ou peut-on distinguer des réseaux plus centraux et intégrateurs ?Si oui, sur quoi se spécialisent-ils, quelles questions posent-ils (et ne posent-ils pas)? Quels effets sanitaires et quelles technologies émettrices d’onde regardent-ils prioritairement? Dans quelle mesure et comment ces groupes structurent-ils l’offre d’expertise scientifique? Les analyses présentées dans ce rapport ont été principalement réalisées avec l’outil informatique de la plateforme CorText, appelé CorText Manager, sur un corpus de 25980 notices bibliographiques collectées via Scopus le 06/05/2019. Le corpus généré est un corpus que l’on peut considérer comme large, et hétérogène en termes de spécialités scientifiques. Le corpus est donc calibré pour attraper la diversité des sous-champs et de réseaux de recherches sur les radiofréquences et santé, et analyser la structure d’ensemble de leurs relations, plus qu’il n’est conçu pour faire l’analyse fine, indépendante, de sous-champs ou de réseaux faisant partie du champ d’ensemble. Le rapport est structuré en cinq parties. La première introduit la méthode suivie pour constituer le corpus, et explicite les effets de la requête choisie pour interroger la base de données Scopus. La deuxième partie présente un ensemble de tableaux généraux des publications constituant le corpus. La troisième partie rentre dans l’analyse de la structure du champ de recherche, par l’intermédiaire de la visualisation des réseaux de co-publication. La quatrième partie croise les données sur les auteurs, avec les données sur la fréquence des termes décrivant ce sur quoi ils travaillent (technologies, effets). La cinquième partie localise les scientifiques agissant comme expert dans différents organismes dans le champ de recherche, afin de proposer des analyses sur la question de savoir quelle science, et quels réseaux de recherche sont mobilisés dans l’expertise.

abstract = {Scientometric analysis based on the mapping of complex networks performed with the Cortext manager platform reveals that biosecurity and bioterrorism have established research communities and literature, in which plant and crop biosecurity are by far less represented than human and animal issues. Biosecurity has not made plant health “disappear” and/or does not constitute a rival field of research. The conceptual apparatus of biosecurity is close to that of some other fields of research on plant health. Some specific consistent clusters of scientists and concepts related to biosecurity and agro-terrorism can be isolated however, in particular the members of the PlantFoodSec Network of Excellence. This result demonstrates the impact of European and international programs (such as CropBioTerror, PlantFoodSec, etc.) on the structure of research networks on agro-terrorism. The article opens with an analysis of qualitative material regarding the way this scientific production and agenda permeates (or not) through daily professional activities. Focusing on plant biosecurity and agro-terrorism, it targets some common issues in scientometrics and sociology of science about the boundaries of research domains and the emergence of new paradigms with specific concepts, methods, authors and cited references. It also echoes the range of questions and reflections at stake within the scientific communities related to biosecurity, and shows the effects of expertise-driven processes on the dynamics of knowledge.},

The growing mass of data produced in the so-called Knowledge Society owes a lot to the acceleration and profusion of digital tools that are now widely used in different areas of human activities: work, culture, leisure, political expression, etc. Social scientists now largely acknowledge that the various modes of interaction brought by new information and communication technologies are changing the very nature of micro-politics and the expression of the self. In our views the conditions for producing knowledge in social sciences and humanities more widely are changed too. New digital infrastructures specifically designed for social sciences and humanities make it possible to equip scientists with tools that enable them to tackle the complexity of heterogeneous textual corpora dynamics and to develop innovative analytical methodologies that will bring new insights and renewed capacities to investigate contemporary issues. The aim of this communication is to propose (1) to discuss some of the epistemic problems that surge from the use of digital platforms ambitioning the development of our capacities of enquiry of knowledge production in society; (2) to present the main developments and experience that had been led within the CorTexT plateform as well as their driving principles.},

The growing mass of data produced in the so-called Knowledge Society owes a lot to the acceleration and profusion of digital tools that are now widely used in different areas of human activities: work, culture, leisure, political expression, etc. Social scientists now largely acknowledge that the various modes of interaction brought by new information and communication technologies are changing the very nature of micro-politics and the expression of the self. In our views the conditions for producing knowledge in social sciences and humanities more widely are changed too. Elle se trouve donc aujourd’hui plus que jamais confrontée à deux impératifs qui mettent en avant sa multifonctionnalité : garantir la fourniture de biens de consommation (nourriture, bois, eau potable...) et de bénéfices sociaux (e.g. emploi) tout en préservant la capacité des écosystèmes à fournir d’autres services (purification de l’eau, régulation du climat, etc.). EcoServ est un méta-programme de recherche en construction à l’Inra afin qu’y soit développée une recherche inter-disciplinaire sur les services fournis par les écosystèmes continentaux dépendants des activités agricoles et forestières. La présente analyse a été engagée dans le cadre de sa construction, afin de connaître la place des systèmes agricoles dans la littérature sur les services écosystémiques. Ce travail de scientométrie a été guidé par quatre questions principales : quelles sont les disciplines scientifiques impliquées dans cette recherche ? Quels sont les services écosystémiques abordés dans la littérature ? Quels sont les écosystèmes étudiés ? Quelle est la place de l’Inra dans ce paysage ? Le corpus est issu de la base de données bibliographique Web of Science. Il a été construit de manière large afin d’inclure les différents synonymes de la notion de « service écosystémique ». Différentes analyses lexicales ont ensuite été réalisées pour la période postérieure au MEA (2006-2012) à l’aide de la plateforme CorTexT manager de l’Ifris et de R (R Core Team, 2012) : extractions lexicales, catégorisations de termes, calculs de fréquences, cartes de cooccurences. Les termes les plus fréquemment utilisés dans les articles de la période 1975- 2012 sont ecosystem service (39 % des documents indexés), puis ecosystem function (29 %), ecological function (14 %) et environmental service (9 %). Le terme ecosystem function dominera jusqu’en 2007 où il sera supplanté par celui de ecosystem service qui connait une progression exponentielle suite à la publication du MEA (Millenium Ecosystem Assessment, 2003, 2005). Ce concept est particulièrement mobilisé par l’écologie et la biologie de la conservation, d’où il tire son origine. Les trois références les plus citées de ce corpus se situent en écologie (Costanza et al., 1997; Daily, 1997; Hooper et al., 2005). Les sciences agronomiques utilisent plutôt le terme de « services environnementaux », qui met l’accent sur les services rendus par l’homme à l’environnement. La place de l’Institut dans ce corpus étant très faible (1.5 %) malgré les résultats importants obtenus au cours de l’enquête réalisée début 2013 auprès des départements, il est très probable qu’un grand nombre de services soient étudiés à l’Inra sans que les chercheurs se réclament de cette notion. Le service le plus étudié est celui de production agricole. La majorité des services sont étudiés de manière isolée. In our views the conditions for producing knowledge from a Science & Technology Studies point of view are changed too, for at least three reasons: • the deluge of electronic sources of data overloads our capacity of enquiry, • S&TS dynamics now intertwine heterogeneous actors, matters of facts and matters of concerns coming from different arenas call for an integrated understanding of knowledge production and circulation. • Nevertheless, new digital infrastructures specifically designed for social sciences and humanities make it possible to equip scientists with tools that enable them to tackle the complexity of heterogeneous textual corpora dynamics and to develop innovative analytical methodologies that will bring new insights and renewed capacities to investigate contemporary issues.},

Until recent time, the description, light-modeling and interpretation of socio-cognitive dynamics of science-society relations required a constructivist approach, involving collecting, reading, classifying and interpreting tasks performed by scholars examining sets of texts, archives, interviews, etc. The growing mass of data produced in the so-called Knowledge Society owes a lot to the acceleration and profusion of digital tools that are now widely used in different areas of human activities: work, culture, leisure, political expression, etc. Social scientists now largely acknowledge that the various modes of interaction brought by new information and communication technologies are changing the very nature of micro-politics and the expression of the self. Without ignoring the existence of a large array of scientific perspectives in Information Sciences about the measurement of science productions and science dynamics, we situate our work in the branch of analysis and visualisation of social networks. This field as well as indicators are central for evaluation and policy of science (Callon et al., 1986; Law et al., 1988). At present, the evolution of the analysis of scientific networks is largely attached to the question of characterizing collaborative and cognitive dynamics of knowledge production (Powell et al., 2005) and to the emergence of multi or trans‐disciplinary emerging fields of research (Lucio‐Arias, Leydesdorff, 2007) or paradigmatic field of research (Chavalarias, Cointet, 2008). Tracing and mapping knowledge in scientific database or in other electronic sources still represents a huge field of problems for many disciplines dealing with information. More locally, in relation to specific area of research, mapping heterogeneous networks appears to help the understanding of social dynamic of research activities (Cambrosio, Keating, Mogoutov, 2004; Cambrosio et al., 2006; Bourret et al., 2006).
Using co‐word analysis tools (RéseauLu), we have already proposed a social study focused on regime of knowledge production in agricultural science and on the significance of sustainability (Barbier, Mogoutov et al., 2008). We identified two emergent yet lively research themes: biofuels and vegetal fibres, and realized specific bibliometrical studies on those subjects. We then devoted sociological studies based on heterogeneous sources to fibres (Caron et Barbier 2009) and biofuel & bioenergy research (Tari 2009). Bearing in mind this type of overall view on scientific knowledge we wanted to develop an approach on research projects in those domains.},
